I am a current Masters student at the University of Western Australia, conducting my thesis and research through the Wernberg & Filbee-Dexter Lab. As ocean temperatures rise and tropical species expand poleward into temperate systems, understanding how these shifts cascade through communities is critical for predicting the future of temperate reefs. My research investigates tropicalisation, community change, and shifts in habitat formers on temperate reefs as a result of global change, with a focus on the reefs of the Abrolhos Islands using long-term monitoring data.
Prior to beginning my Masters, I spent time in Cairns, QLD, working with AIMS and GBRMPA on the Great Barrier Reef, investigating bleaching events and the outbreaks of invasive species following recent weather events.
